An elderly Montrose woman is dead and four other people are reported to have been injured in a three-vehicle crash in Susquehanna County January 9.

Pennsylvania State Police say 86-year-old Amy Cain was a passenger in a car driven by 83-year-old Clifford Cain that rear-ended a Nissan Rouge on State Route 706 at Heart Lake Road in Bridgewater Township and then hit a Dodge Ram in the opposite lane head-on.

The drivers of all three vehicles, Amy Cain and a 10-year-old boy riding in the third vehicle were all taken to area hospitals.

The Montrose woman was pronounced dead at Endless Mountain Hospital.

Clifford Cain and 46-year-old Shannon Butts of Susquehanna, who was driving the second vehicle, suffered moderate injuries.

The investigation is continuing.
