Asking Price Reduced for Historic Choconut Inn in Friendsville
The owner of a popular Susquehanna County bar and restaurant is ready to retire and he's looking for someone to acquire the business.
Robert Pornbeck on Thursday announced he's lowered the price he's seeking for the Choconut Inn in Friendsville.
Pornbeck has operated the establishment at the intersection of Route 267 and Quaker Lake Road for the past 12 years. It's located located a couple of miles south of Vestal Center.
Pornbeck originally listed the property for $875,000 two years ago as he was starting to look toward retirement. That was shortly after the business was moving forward after a temporary closure during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Pornbeck told WNBF News he's now reduced the asking price to $749,000 and he's "actively trying to sell it."
The Choconut Inn has been a fixture in Friendsville since 1850. The place has been a stagecoach stop and it's been home to a post office.
Pornbeck said the building features an event center and 3,000 square feet of space for apartments on the second floor. He said one room has been refinished for residential use but additional apartments could be developed in the building.
