A Broome County man who wanted to visit the pistol permit office faces a felony count for allegedly driving drunk with a child in his pickup truck.

Authorities say 38-year-old William Labar of Whitney Point was arrested after he appeared to be intoxicated when he showed up at the Broome County Sheriff's Office in the town of Dickinson Tuesday.

According to the agency, Labar was uncooperative and refused field sobriety testing and a breath test.

Labar was accused of violating Leandra's Law - that's aggravated DWI for operating a vehicle while intoxicated with a child as a passenger. He also faces misdemeanor counts of DWI and endangering the welfare of a child.

Labar was ordered to appear in Dickinson town court. The child was released to a family member and the man's pickup truck was towed from the sheriff's office parking lot.
