The Maine-Endwell Spartans and Union-Endicott Tigers remain undefeated after week five of the Section Four High School Football season.    M-E had no problem defeating the Elmira Express Saturday afternoon, 41-16 to up their record to 5-0.

The Spartans'  twin speedsters, Luis Uceta and Justin Jacoby scored two touchdowns each, the big blow, a 71-yard TD romp by Uceta with 4:29 remaining in the opening quarter.  Quarterback Kyle Gallagher found his brother Adam in the end zone for a third quarter touchdown that made it 33-0 and put the game out of reach.

At U-E's Ty Cobb Stadium Saturday night the Tigers faced their cross-river rivals, the Vestal Golden Bears.  Vestal had racked up 60 points against Oneonta the previous week.  Vestal scored first on a 6-yard touchdown pass from Nick Wegmann to Justin Dennis.

The Tigers evened the score on a 1-yard carry by Michael Cheslock. U-E got the lead back on a Joe Orlando to Hezekiah Morgan 21-yard touchdown pass but  Dennis countered that with a 90-yard kickoff return for the Golden Bears sending the teams into the locker room tied at 14-14 at the half.

The Tigers scored three touchdowns in the second half, all on the ground and held Vestal off the board except for a safety, as they wrapped up a 35-16 win. Sammy Davis,  Dan Davis and Michael Cheslock all notched TD's for U-E in that second half.

U-E moves to 5-0 while Vestal falls to 3-2.  A big showdown is coming this Saturday in Endicott as the Tigers put their undefeated record on the line against the Binghamton Patriots, winners of  four  straight (7 pm on News Radio 1290 WNBF).
