Maine-Endwell made a big splash today (Thursday) with a 7-2 victory over Rhode island in the Little League World Series in South Williamsport.  Maine-Endwell jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning with a three-run home run from Ryan Harlost.  Harlost was the star of the game.  Along with the home run he ripped a triple and a double and drove in four runs.  He also was the starting pitcher and earned the victory.

The game was briefly delayed in the top of the sixth inning by a shower that moved through the area.  Play resumed and finished as another shower was falling.

A large number of families and fans made the trip from the Endwell area to watch the game.  One group that was on hand was the Maine-Endwell Spartans High School Football team who had an early pre-season practice and then drove to Williamsport to show their support for future Spartans.

M-E will next play on Sunday against the winner of the Oregon versus Tennessee contest. Earlier in the day several hundred fans turned out to attend a pep rally in front of Dick's Sporting Goods in the Townsquare Mall in Vestal.
