Lupardo Announces She’s Seeking Re-Election to State Assembly
New York State Assemblywoman Donna Lupardo says she is seeking another two-year term.
The Endwell Democrat announced her re-election campaign on Wednesday at Confluence Park in Binghamton.
Lupardo represents the 123rd Assembly District, which includes the city of Binghamton along with the towns of Union and Vestal.
Lupardo was first elected to the Assembly in 2004 when she defeated incumbent Republican Robert Warner. Two Binghamton residents - city councilwoman Sophia Resciniti and Robin Alpaugh - are competing for the Republican nomination in the Assembly district. The winner of the June 28 primary will face Lupardo in the November general election.
Lupardo told WNBF News that she believes her experience in the Assembly is important as the region continues to recover following the Covid-19 pandemic. She said she has a reputation for working across party lines and also for "working hard" for the community.
Lupardo said "these are critically important times." She said "we really need people who have the experience to try to get us through this."
Among the legislative accomplishments cited by Lupardo: the Safe School Drinking Water Act, new parking garage inspection standards and The Work-Zone Safety Act.
Lupardo lives in Endwell with her husband Scott Peters, a Cornell University professor along with their cat, Zuzu.
