New York State Police Troop C Remove Impaired Drivers Off Roadways

During the month of September, New York State Police Troop C Removed impaired drivers from the roadways/ One had a child under the age of 15 in the vehicle, even drivers ads a B.A.C. higher than .18%, two drivers had previous convictions, and nine were under the influence of drugs.

 Binghamton Police Arrest Two After Main Street Shooting

Two people face charges following a dispute that resulted in several shots being fired from a handgun on Binghamton's West Side. Police were sent to Main and Cedar Streets around 2:50 p.m. Monday after at least three gunshots were heard in the area. Investigators believe no one was wounded in the incident which erupted during an altercation in front of an apartment building at 132 Main Street.

Emergency Fund To Help Over 120,000 New York State Families

$12 million in federal funding has been set aside to provide a one-time Family Economic Support payment to New York State low-income families with children according to Governor Kath Hochul's website. Households with children who are 17 and under, and receive Public Assistance, will receive around $100 through the New York State Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance.

Tiger Park Being Developed Next to Union-Endicott High School

Construction continues on a project to develop a park area and restore the George F. Johnson monument in Endicott. Endicott Rotary is working with the Union-Endicott School District on the restoration plan for the monument on East Main Street. The site is located between the high school and the district offices.

New York State Liquor & Wine Stores Now Have Expanded Sunday Hours

New York State Legislation S.5731/A.6941 "allows for the sale of beer, mead, braggot, and cider on any day of the week including Sundays." Now, New York State wine and liquor stores are allowed to expand Sunday hours so that they can open at 10 a.m. and close at 10 p.m.

Broome County Overing A Free New Fraud Alert Tool

The Broome County Clerk's Office is providing a new, free tool to local residents to help property owners protect their homes. It's called Fraud Alert that sends you an alert whenever a document such as a deed or mortgage is recorded in the clerk's office with your name attached to it.

Binghamton Moves to Lockdown Properties After Criminal Activity

Two residential buildings may be shut down by the city of Binghamton because of criminal activity and disturbances. The owners of houses at 3 and 5 Sturges Street have been ordered to take action to address the problems associated with the properties. Kraham said police were called to 3 Sturges Street in September for a report of a man with an AK-47 assault rifle. A man was charged with weapon possession after police found a rifle and two loaded magazines when they searched the two-family house.

Planned Binghamton Weed Shop to Feature Drive-Thru Pickup Window

A former fast-food restaurant on Court Street in Binghamton may become a marijuana retail outlet where customers can pick up their purchases while remaining in their cars. The new cannabis shop is to be developed in the now-closed A&W restaurant building on the city's East Side.

New Recruitment Campaign Applications for NYS Trooper Entrance Exam

The New York State Trooper Entrance Exam application window opened on October 23rd and will continue to be open through March 4, 2024. The NYS Police saw a significant increase in applications with the 29 to 34-year-old age group since Governor Hochul approved a request to raise the maximum age from 29 to 34, in addition to relaxing some restrictions having to do with its tattoo policy.

Triplets and Thurman Munson Remembered in Johnson City

A traditional blue and gold state historic marker has been erected on North Broad Street, just west of the Johnson City Senior Center. A specially designed marker in the shape of the home plate has been installed in the center's parking lot at the precise spot of the home plate at Johnson Field. Johnson Field was built by Endicott Johnson Shoe Company founder George F. Johnson. About 7,000 people attended the first Triplets game at the ballpark on May 6, 1913.
