A man who was charged with DWI after a vehicle stop in Tioga County also faces a felony weapon count after police discovered he had a loaded stolen handgun.

Authorities say 42-year-old Gary Reed Jr. of Sidney was arrested around 9:35 p.m. on Saturday.

According to state police, relatives filed a complaint regarding Reed's purported erratic behavior.

Investigators say Reed was pulled over on Route 17C in the Town of Tioga by troopers with assistance from the Tioga County Sheriff's Office.

Police determined Reed had been driving "while highly intoxicated." He was arrested without incident.

Reed was charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a felony. He also faces a charge of aggravated driving while intoxicated and other traffic violations.

Reed was arraigned in Tioga town court. He was sent to Tioga County Jail on $50,000 bail. His next court date was scheduled for February 8.
