Liquid Sugar Spilled in Delaware County Tanker Crash
A Willow Grove, Pennsylvania man is being ticketed for failure to stop at a stop sign and inadequate brakes for a crash in Delaware County that sent the tanker truck full of liquid sugar he was driving rolling onto its side.
Delaware County Sheriff’s officials say the crash at the intersection of County Highway 26 and East River Road in Hamden happened at around 8 a.m. July 30 and closed the road for hours.
51-year-old Ronald Greene was not injured.
Authorities say Greene was traveling from Fairless Hills, Pennsylvania to Saputo Dairy in Fraser when the tractor trailer experienced brake failure as it approached the intersection and Greene was unable to stop or negotiate the 90-degree turn. The truck hit a utility pole and earth embankment. A small amount of the liquid sugar spilled, prompting the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation to be called to the scene.
