Chenango Memorial Hospital in Norwich is one of dozens of rural hospitals U.S. Senator Charles Schumer of New York says should be getting support for their operations.

The Democrat says cuts to Medicare and Medicaid threaten rural health care providers.

Schumer has proposed the rural Hospital Access Act of 2017 to keep programs operating.

Schumer says the smaller, rural hospitals don’t have the financial resources to be able to buy some expensive equipment and government funding cuts could be devastating.
