One local educational facility is asking residents to close out the old year on a really high note, as in "out-of-this-world."

The Kopernik Observatory and Science Center is asking for contributions to wrap up 2018 that will be used to cover operating and capital expenses.

Last year, the center on Underwood Road in Vestal was able to install an efficient septic system with the help of donations.

This year, the center needs expensive repairs to the roof to meet new building codes.  Kopernik also is committed to offering financial aid to students who want to take lasses but do not have the resources.
