Johnson City had been looking at changing the Winter alternate side of the street parking times to a schedule that would mirror the City of Binghamton parking regulations that ;has cars parked in the evening for the next day.

Currently, motorists in the village have to have their cars parked on the correct side of the street between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m.

The village held a public hearing October 15 where several residents objected to a proposal to require cars to be parked on the correct side of the street by 5 p.m. the previous day.

The trustees voted to maintain the current parking times, but to allow the Department of Public Services to ticket or tow mis-parked cars instead of waiting for police to respond and take action.

Johnson City's alternate side of the street Winter parking rules run from November 1 to March 31.

Starting November 1, if the calendar day for the next day is an odd number, vehicles must be parked on the odd-numbered side of the street between 2 a.m. to 6 a.m. to allow plows to clear snow from the streets without obstacles.  If the calendar day number is even, vehicles must be parked on the even-numbered side of the street during those early morning hours.
