Loaded Rifle Seized After JC Man Threatens Neighbor

A Johnson City man was arrested after he allegedly pointed a rifle at a neighbor.

Authorities say 62-year-old Dennis Zurn of 68 St. Charles Street was charged with second-degree menacing after the incident early Wednesday afternoon.

Police were called to investigate a disturbance in which a man reportedly threatened someone with an AK-47.

Officers secured the home on St. Charles Street and obtained a search warrant. Once inside, police say they found a loaded rifle and a loaded sawed-off 12-gauge shotgun. They also discovered a .22 caliber semi-automatic rifle and a 7mm rifle.

Police seized several high-capacity magazines for the rifle. They said the gun was modeled after an AK-style rifle.

In addition to menacing, Zurn was charged with criminal possession of a firearm and four counts of criminal possession of a weapon.

Zurn was arraigned in Johnson City village court and sent to Broome County Jail.
