DuelBits looked at the 100 largest U.S. cities and compared things like property crime, fraud reports, divorce rates, catfishing cases, spam calls, employee theft, along with online searches tied to cheating in relationships and video games.

Why New York City ranked so high

New York City scored a 7.30 out of 10, landing behind only Wichita, Omaha, and Arlington. One big reason New York ranked so well was its low property crime rate. The city had just 1,500 cases per 100,000 residents, which is far below the national average of 3,466.

The Big Apple also had the lowest divorce rate in the country at just 7.28%. Honestly??Researchers found spam call complaints and catfishing cases were also lower than average in the city.

Where New York struggled

The study found fraud reports were slightly higher than the national average, with about 1,100 cases per 100,000 residents. Employee theft risk was also above average. Researchers also found a high number of searches connected to affair websites. The total number was large, but New York’s population size pushed it closer to the middle of the rankings in that category.

The least honest cities

Miami ranked as the most dishonest city in America, followed by Atlanta and Las Vegas. For a city often criticized for being fast-paced and tough, New York City may have proven it’s more trustworthy than many people think...including me.
