New data shows New York ranks second highest in the entire country for Valentine’s Day proposal likelihood this year. Only one state ranks higher. That means New York is a major hotspot for popping the question as Valentine's Day get closer.

Walters Wedding Estates took a look at engagement ring shopping and proposal planning searches from November through January. New York stood out big time as the state scored more than double the national average for engagement related searches.
Why February Is Prime Proposal Season
Valentine’s Day has always been one of the most popular proposal dates of the year. According to The Knot, most people buy an engagement ring four months or less before proposing. That makes November through January searches a strong clue that February proposals are coming especially in New York.

New Yorkers Have a Clear Ring Style Favorite
The study also looked at what kinds of engagement rings people in each state are searching for most. In New York, round cut diamonds and gold bands topped the list. That means if you’re scrolling social media and seeing lots of “I said yes” posts this Valentine’s Day, chances are you’ll spot a classic round stone on a gold ring.

New York is known for moving fast, but when it comes to engagements, people love tradition. The popularity of classic ring styles along with the high proposal rate shows that many New Yorkers are planning their meaningful moments this Valentine’s season.
