Otsiningo Park’s Canine Recreational Facility to Open Soon
Work on a dog park being constructed by Broome County is nearing completion.
The $200,000 complex will be located at the north end of Otsiningo Park in the town of Chenango.
County Executive Jason Garnar said the facility is expected to be operational soon. He told WNBF News it should be ready to open "in a couple weeks."
Garnar said most of the fencing has been put in place for the park. He said a water line is being installed at the site.
Signs still must be erected. Benches and garbage cans also will be brought in for use by park visitors. Some trees also remain to be planted.
Garnar said county officials are hoping the dog park can be open by the end of the month. He said it's "going to be really nice."
The new facility has been discussed for years. The county received a $25,000 grant from PetSafe in 2021 to help develop the dog park.
The complex is just east of Interstate 81. Access to the dog park will be from Howell Drive, which is off Front Street.
