As you may have heard, the horsemen at the Downs have suffered a huge loss and it's time we come together and offer our condolences. Reports say that 30 horses died in a fire that officials are alleging was set intentionally inside the barn at Tioga Downs last week.

A solidarity ride and walk is happening this Sunday, November 19th, to remember the horses that were lost and show our support for the amazing horsemen. It doesn't matter whether you're a good rider, a bad rider, or barely know how to get on a horse, just bring your horse or walk on foot. This is a chance for everyone to participate and show their support!

Solidarity Ride For Tioga Downs

The walk will start at the Dandy Mart on 814 West River Road in Nichols. The community is asked to begin arriving at 11:00 a.m. and the walk will begin at 12:00 p.m. The walk/ride will go along River Road, heading towards Tioga Downs.

The horses that were lost were more than just animals, they were a part of someone's family. Each of them had a name, their own unique personality, and they were loved by so many. We want to make sure that their memory lives on and that the horsemen know that we're here to support them during this really tough time.

If you can't make it but want to help make a difference, a GoFundMe page has been set up and the owner of Tioga Downs, Jeff Gural has pledged to match up to $100,000 of whatever money is donated. The GoFundMe page is being manage by the Southern Tier Harness Horsemens Association.
