New York’s Favorite Fictional Teacher Is…
That was quick but back to school season is here and the kids are filling their backpacks with pencils and notebooks. Parents are hoping for great teachers, the kind who make learning fun and memorable. But most classrooms don’t look like the ones on TV or in the movies.
The Teachers We Wish We Had
When you think about it, everyone has a dream teacher from a show, movie or a book. The funny, the quirky, the wise, or the kindhearted, these fictional teachers seem to know how to make school fun and magical. Of course, real life doesn’t always work like that.
Looking at the Data
The team at Mountainside Music Academy decided to find out which fictional teacher each state loves most. They dug into Google search trends from the past year to see who people have been looking up the most. Turns out, every state has a different favorite, from the big personalities to the quiet, encouraging ones.
New York Picks Miss Honey
So who came out on top for New York? It is none other than Miss Honey from Matilda. She’s gentle, patient, and always believes in her students especially little Matilda. For New Yorkers, Miss Honey seems to be the kind of teacher we would all want our kids to have.
Why Miss Honey Stands Out
Miss Honey isn’t flashy or loud, but that is what makes her so special. She listens, she cares, and she creates a safe space for her students. In a world where school can sometimes feel overwhelming, it’s easy to see why New Yorkers connect with her the most.
The first teacher that I thought of was Mr. Hand (Ray Walston) the history teacher from Fast Times at Ridgemont High. He knew how to handle Spicoli (Sean Penn) and put him in his place...in an amusing kind of way. What fictional teacher comes to your mind.
