James H. McNeilly, 44, of Endicott, received an indeterminate sentence of three to six years in New York State prison. The sentencing occurred in Broome County Court before Judge Carol A. Cocchiola. McNeilly was classified as a second felony offender because of a previous attempted strangulation conviction in 2016.

Details of the Incident

The charges relate to a July 21, 2025, incident in which McNeilly allegedly attempted to enter the Broome County Department of Social Services building in Binghamton while carrying a metal knuckle knife. Security officers discovered the weapon during a routine screening as items were placed in a bin for inspection.
