I don't know about you but I can't wait for the upcoming Binghamton Black Bears season as they go for in the words of Black Bears captain/assistant coach Tyson Kirkby "Two's a fluke but three is a streak!"

The quest for their third Commissioners Cup begins at home on Friday, October 10th. But before they take to the ice, the AHL will come back to the Visions Veterans Memorial Arena for one night.

The Syracuse Crunch will face off against the Utica Comets in a preseason matchup at the arena in Binghamton on Friday, October 3rd at 7:05 p.m. It’s part of the Crunch’s 2025 preseason schedule.

Binghamton’s Hockey Tradition Shines Again

Crunch owner Howard Dolgon said he’s thrilled to bring an AHL matchup to Binghamton, calling our city one of the outstanding hockey markets in North America. And it makes sense because Binghamton has always had a strong hockey following beginning with the Broome Dusters, continuing with the Binghamton Rangers, Senators and Devils.

A Partnership With the Black Bears

The Binghamton Black Bears are teaming up with the Crunch for this event. Black Bears owner Andreas Johansson said hosting an AHL game is a chance for fans in the Southern Tier to get a close look at top-level hockey players, while also strengthening the bond between the Crunch and Binghamton’s hockey community.

The game in Binghamton will be the Crunch’s final preseason contest before their regular season kicks off. It’s not every day that fans get the chance to watch future NHL stars skating in their own backyard.
