Find Out What Makes Owego A Charming Travel Spot Today

If you live in or around the Village of Owego, you know just how special your community is. And with that, the village has recently garnered some more national attention.

As you may remember, in 2009, Budget Travel named the Village of Owego as America's Coolest Small Town in a poll.

What's The Owego Buzz All About?

Recently, a couple of online magazines have been giving the Village of Owego some love. On October 9th, staff writer Corey Fuller wrote an article on the website Secret NYC  about the village and, among other great remarks, had this to say:

Victorian storefronts and Greek Revival homes line Front Street like old friends who never left, while historic markers, horse hitches, and period details make wandering feel like stepping into a novel. - Corey Fuller, Secret NYS

The article highlights the Victorian storefronts, scenic waterfront, architecture, dining and shopping options, galleries, and festivals.

A few days earlier, on October 5th, 2025, on the website, Islands.com, a writer, Jianne Uy, also wrote about the abundance of Victorian storefronts and 19th-century architecture. This article mentions the charm of Owego's antiques and bookstore options.

Mentions of the riverwalk, downtown eateries, overnight accommodations, and the history of the village as a plus for why it's the perfect place to visit. In a world of so much negative news, it's nice to hear about the good things, especially when it's right here in our own hometowns.

In my opinion, the Southern Tier of New York State certainly has a ton of charm,  rivaling other amazing communities across the country, and the rest of the U.S.A. is quickly finding that out.
