A popular Vestal restaurant located near the Binghamton University campus that closed three months ago is about to resume operations.

Buffet Star has posted a "grand re-opening announcement" online. According to the statement, the restaurant on Vestal Road is scheduled to reopen on Friday, May 9.

The business on February 3 announced that the establishment would be closed temporarily. The shutdown followed a January Broome County health department inspection. Online records indicated two "critical" violations and 10 "non-critical" violations were found.

Buffet Star is the largest restaurant in Vestal. The business opened in its current 9,100-square foot building in January 2010. Buffet Star originally operated at a smaller site in the nearby Campus Plaza.

A recorded telephone message on Thursday afternoon announced Buffet Star was closed for "repairs and upgrades to the restaurant." Representatives of the business could not be reached for comment.

LOOK: Best Beers From Every State

To find the best beer in each state and Washington D.C., Stacker analyzed January 2020 data from BeerAdvocate, a website that gathers user scores for beer in real-time. BeerAdvocate makes its determinations by compiling consumer ratings for all 50 states and Washington D.C. and applying a weighted rank to each. The weighted rank pulls the beer toward the list's average based on the number of ratings it has and aims to allow lesser-known beers to increase in rank. Only beers with at least 10 rankings to be considered; we took it a step further to only include beers with at least 100 user rankings in our gallery. Keep reading to find out what the best beer is in each of the 50 states and Washington D.C.
