Vestal’s Buffet Star Restaurant to Reopen After Sudden Closure
A popular Vestal restaurant located near the Binghamton University campus that closed three months ago is about to resume operations.
Buffet Star has posted a "grand re-opening announcement" online. According to the statement, the restaurant on Vestal Road is scheduled to reopen on Friday, May 9.
The business on February 3 announced that the establishment would be closed temporarily. The shutdown followed a January Broome County health department inspection. Online records indicated two "critical" violations and 10 "non-critical" violations were found.
The unsigned note Facebook stated "we will be making upgrades to the restaurant and taking personal time to spend with our growing family."
The reopening announcement thanked patrons "for your patience and your continued support."
Buffet Star is the largest restaurant in Vestal. The business opened in its current 9,100-square foot building in January 2010. Buffet Star originally operated at a smaller site in the nearby Campus Plaza.
A recorded telephone message on Thursday afternoon announced Buffet Star was closed for "repairs and upgrades to the restaurant." Representatives of the business could not be reached for comment.
