Another Food-A-Bago food drive for Broome County CHOW is in the books. Or should I say, on the warehouse shelves on Otsiningo Street, Binghamton, the home of the Community Hunger Outreach Warehouse? Yeah, that sounds right.

This 24th year, our community stepped up once again to help families in our Southern Tier community for the holiday season with donations of non-perishable foods and money.

Over the seven-plus days of the food drive, our radio personalities got to meet listeners in person, chat, and at the same time, help out with food supplies for Broome County CHOW.

We spoke with people who donated food, telling us that at one time in their lives, they needed the services of Broome County CHOW, and now that they are doing better, can give back, even if it's just one item. Every bit helps.

On Tuesday, Les Aylesworth, Director of Broome County CHOW contacted us to say that food donations weighed in at 4,446 pounds, which is almost 2 1/2 tons of food! That amount of food equals 3,697 meals that CHOW will be able to distribute to families in our community.

Add in just over $5,800 in monetary donations to that food total. That amount of money means that Broome County CHOW will be able to put together just over 29,000 meals for families because each dollar equals five meals.

Thanks to everyone who took time out of their busy day to contribute to Food-A-Bago. Townsquare Media Binghamton and Broome County CHOW appreciate it! Also Thanks to Raptor Pack Contracting, 21st Century Pools & Spas, Music For The Mission, Joe Stanley, Oliver's Campers, and the Akel Family.
