Another accused sex offender is accused of traveling to Broome County for what he thought was an arranged meeting to have sex with children.

The U.S. Justice Department says 51-year-old Jeffery Blake of Ithaca will serve 13-years and four-months in federal prison after being arrested in Broome County on August 23, 2019 when he showed up, bringing gifts for what he thought were 9 and 13-year-old girls and looking to meet with them and their mother.

Blake pleaded guilty to attempted online enticement of a minor.

Federal prosecutors say Blake admitted that between June and August 23 of 2019 he exchanged text messages with a person he thought was the mother of the two children where he expressed interest in meeting the girls and engaging in sex acts. He also told the undercover officer posing as they children the sex wouldn’t hurt and he would make sure the 13-year-old didn’t become pregnant.

Federal authorities say Blake showed up in Broome County with necklaces, bracelets, earrings and stuffed animals he planned to give the children as well as birth control and vibrators but came face-to-face with law enforcement and was arrested.

In addition to 160 months in federal prison, Blake will serve ten years of supervised release, pay a 100 dollar special assessment and be required to register as a sex offender.

There have been numerous cases over recent years that have been prosecuted on the federal and local levels where sex offenders have traveled to locations in Broome County after thinking they were arranging sexual encounters with children.
