Today, December 3rh, 2024 is Giving Tuesday. The day is designed to encourage people to donate to charities and support causes they care about, happening throughout the country.

According to a new release, the Foundation awarded a record $2 million in grants, which will help the over 100 non-profit organizations to continue their work in the Twin Tiers. Non-profit organizations represent groups from the New York State counties of Chemung, Tioga, and Broome, along with Bradford County in Pennsylvania.
Through the experiences shared by our award winners, we eagerly anticipate the ripple effects of these grants making a real difference close to home. There are countless organizations doing amazing work, often without the budget they truly deserve, and these grants aim to amplify their impact. I am happy we could increase our giving from $1.5 to $2 million this year as we want to help as many organizations as possible in the local communities that we serve. - Jeff Gural, Tioga Downs Casino Resort Owner
Over 170 organizations applied for grants this year, which was reported to be a record number of applicants. For those who did not receive a grant this year, the Tioga Downs Regional Community Foundation encourages those organizations to apply again in 2025. Non-profit organizations that did receive a grant this year are welcome to apply again next year.
The Tioga Downs Regional Community Foundation notes that its purpose is to promote economic and community development by supporting organizations that contribute to charitable, religious, literary, scientific, and educational endeavors.
