Investigators Release Names of Dead Following Tioga Head-On Crash
Authorities have publicly identified four of the five people who died in a head-on collision in the town of Richford.
The crash involving a pickup truck and a sport utility vehicle happened late Sunday afternoon near the Broome County Line.
According to the Tioga County Sheriff's Office, both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators say 36-year-old Mohammad Nazir of Brooklyn was the operator of a Honda Pilot. Two Brooklyn residents who were passengers in the SUV - 30-year-old Skandar Chaudhary and 32-year-old Nasir Mahmood - also died,
The operator of a Toyota Tacoma - 40-year-old Traci Baker of Richford - died, as did a 14-year-old passenger in the pickup truck. The passenger's name was not released.
Two other passengers of the SUV remain hospitalized. One was reported in critical condition at Wilson Medical Center in Johnson City. The other was listed in stable condition at Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse.
