influx of Strays Challenges Front Street Dog Shelter
The administrators and staff at Broome County’s Front Street Dog Shelter are finding themselves up to their noses in wet noses.
There has been a big influx of stray dogs into the shelter in the Town of Dickinson, bringing occupation up to 25 pups, putting a strain on supplies and staff.
Officials are hoping information about the problem will lead to possible reunions with owners or, if that is not possible, new homes for the dogs.
If you have a dog that is missing, contact the Front Street Dog Shelter as well as other shelters like the BC Humane Society in Binghamton.
All area shelters could use donations of food, towels, cleaning supplies and other items as well as volunteers to help walk dogs and socialize cats.
Contact local shelters for information on how to help and what supplies are needed.
