A man faces felony charges after he allegedly attacked a woman and then pulled a gun on her in a Broome County hotel.

Authorities said 24-year-old Amir Robinson of Binghamton was arrested following the incident at the Econo Lodge on Old Front Street in the town of Dickinson.

According to the Broome County Sheriff's Office, deputies were sent to the hotel during the early morning hours last Wednesday. Police were advised that a man with a gun would not leave a room at the hotel.

A woman told deputies Robinson was intoxicated when he visited her room. He then fell asleep.

After he woke up, Robinson allegedly started to argue with the woman before physically attacking her. He then is said to have pointed a handgun at her and threatened to kill her.

The woman said she grabbed the gun after Robinson put the weapon down. She then ran from the room to seek assistance.

Investigators said based on witness accounts and security video, Robinson chased after the woman, grabbed her by the hair and retrieved the gun before leaving the building on foot.

Deputies took Robinson into custody near the hotel shortly after they arrived.

Robinson has been charged with unlawful imprisonment and tampering with physical evidence, felonies. He also was charged with menacing with a weapon and harassment.

According to a news release issued Tuesday afternoon, Robinson was arraigned and remains in custody.
