Medical officials are encouraging everyone to get their flu shots and reports of influenza increase across New York State.

The New York Health Commissioner, Dr. Howard Zucker says flu is prevalent in 44 counties and all boroughs in New York City.

Some health care workers that have chosen not to be vaccinated are being required to wear masks around patients, the elderly, children and other vulnerable people.

State officials say while there have been over 800 hospitalizations due to the flu reported this season, there have been no reports of related pediatric deaths.

The flu season typically continues through the Spring.
