i3 Electronics Mum on Total Job Reductions at Endicott Facility

Significant job cuts have been reported at i3 Electronics at Endicott's Huron Campus but the company is not releasing numbers on how many people are affected.

One former employee said Friday was the last day of work for many people at the i3 Electronics facility in Endicott.

Responding to an email inquiry, the company's Ellen Gerhart wrote: "i3 did take action on Friday that impacted less than 3 employees for a variety of reasons which are confidential in nature."

In June, i3 Electronics announced it was selling its printed circuit board unit to TTM Technologies of Wisconsin. That move was expected to affect hundreds of Endicott employees.

In her statement, Gerhart indicated "continues to support TTM and those employees who have accepted positions working for them."

i3 Electronics has moved some of its operations to Eldredge Street in Binghamton.

Gerhart declined to provide figures on how many employees remain in Endicott and how many now are working at the Binghamton site. She wrote that "employees are still working through their employment options."

Gerhart said all decisions are expected "to be complete by December 1" and suggested specific numbers might be available then. She did not respond to a question about whether i3 was considering using another site in Binghamton.
