It’s not known if any of the dozens of Family Dollar Stores in the Twin Tiers are on Dollar Tree’s list of retail outlets it plans to close.

The company has announced it will close up to 390 Family Dollars this year and change the name of a couple hundred more to the “Dollar Tree” brand.

The company has over 15,000 stores in the U.S.

The Chesapeake, Virginia-based company has been in disputes with the owners of buildings housing many of its locations and has threatened to close stores that are unable to negotiate satisfactory lease agreements.

Dollar Tree acquired Family Dollar four year ago in a deal that totaled close to nine billion dollars.
