Work Starts for New Store at Vestal’s Campus Plaza
Construction has started for a business that's expected to open this spring at the Campus Plaza in Vestal.
A Dollar Tree store will be located in the space that had been home to a Rite Aid pharmacy. That store closed in May 2019, just over a year after it had been acquired by Walgreens.
Demolition operations at the site began a few days ago. Several workers are starting to remodel the location for a 13,200-square-foot store. The old floor will be removed and new flooring will be installed.
Construction work for the new Dollar Tree unit should be completed by the end of March.
The opening date for the store has not been announced. There was no response to a request for information from the Dollar Tree Inc. headquarters in Virginia.
A manager of a Dollar Tree store at the Town Square Mall in Vestal told a reporter he could not comment on the new location or whether the existing unit would remain open.
In addition to the Town Square Mall unit, other Broome County Dollar Tree stores are located in Binghamton, Johnson City and Endwell.
Dollar Tree now operates more than 8,000 stores in the United States and Canada.
