The official word on the new affiliation for Binghamton's American Hockey League team is expected to come at a 1 PM press conference  tomorrow (Tuesday) that has been scheduled at the Holiday Inn Downtown.  There has much speculation pertaining to the future of the American Hockey League in Binghamton since word came out in September that the Ottawa Senators were taking their affiliation to Belleville, Ontario.  At the time Binghamton's Executive Vice-President of Hockey Operations and part owner Tom Mitchell was adamant that even though Ottawa was departing the AHL was staying.

Speculation was rekindled last week when a story authored by Pete Dougherty of the Albany Times Union and timesunion.com indicated that the New Jersey Devils were leaving Albany at the end of this season and will operate their AHL entry in Binghamton thus replacing Ottawa as prime tenant of the Floyd L Maines Veterans Memorial Arena. Dougherty wrote that the details would be finalized and voted on Sunday at the AHL Board of Governors meeting in Allentown, Pa. during the league's annual all-star game break.

Since that story there have not been any concrete verification that that scenario is unfolding.  However, numerous sources won't deny the move either.  Fans will get the "official" word tomorrow.  News Radio 1290 WNBF and wnbf.com will have the facts as they are released.
