It looks like a historic building in the City of Norwich that suffered a partial collapse last week may not survive another few weeks, let alone another 160 years.

A large portion of exterior brick wall fell from the building on Mitchell Street the evening of May 29.

While several people were living in the apartment building, no one occupied that side of the structure and there were no injuries reported.

City Engineers are saying the structure, which was built in 1855, is too far gone but the building’s owner apparently has not signed off on demolition.

Meanwhile the streets around the building remain closed.  Barricades are set up on Mitchell Street between Merrill and Silver Streets.
