For the Binghamton area, the National Weather Service says high temperatures could reach into the low 90s.  That high temperature combined with high humidity puts heat index values into the mid to upper 90s in the afternoon for a second day.

Heat exhaustion and stroke are real possibilities during hot, humid weather and can be deadly.

Residents are advised to drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Provide shaded shelter and water for pets that do not have access to air conditioning. Never leave anyone unattended in a vehicle even with the windows open for any period of time since temperatures inside a vehicle can rise to dangerous and deadly levels within minutes.

Limit time outside, especially during the heat of the day.

While some facilities, like some stores are now open, other areas that are normally a refuge during the heat, like movie theaters are still closed due to the pandemic, complicating efforts by some to stay cool.
