More changes are being announced for the high-tech projection art festival, LUMA in downtown Binghamton this year and one of its founders, Joshua Bernard talks about it on the weekly, local public affairs program, Southern Tier Close Up Saturday.

For the first time, one of the installations will be inside with tickets sold for the 3D immersive experience that will take place inside the United Presbyterian Church and feature 44 members of the Binghamton Philharmonic Orchestra.  Those $8 tickets for Transfiguracioa de la nau are on sale now.

Bernard says this year’s festival is over three days September 7-9 and, as with the past events, the projections and other events are free. Only the performance in the church is being accessed through ticket sales due to the size of the venue.

Binghamton’s LUMA is the only event of its kind in the United States and outshines even cities in Europe where the performance media was born with artists able to express their individual creative whims.

Appearing on the weekly, local public affairs program, Southern Tier Close Up, Saturday, Bernard says expanding the festival over three days will further increase the enjoyment of those attending since there will not be the large volume of people in downtown Binghamton all at once that organizers found in the inaugural years.

You can hear more about LUMA on Close Up Saturday at 12:10 p.m. on News Radio 1290 WNBF and get details online at www.lumafestival.com.
