Greene Couple Accused of Check Scam

A Chenango County couple is accused of depositing then cashing a counterfeit check.

Sheriff’s officials say 26 year old Muriel Davis of Greene is charged with forgery and conspiracy, accused of depositing the bogus check at an NBT Bank branch.

Officials say she and her boyfriend, 30 year old James Brotherton of Greene, then withdrew funds for the full amount of the check.

Brotherton is charged with conspiracy.

Both have been ordered to appear in Town of Greene Court at a later date.
