Greater Binghamton Airport To Construct New Hangers
Aviation Commissioner Carl Beardsley Jr. and Broome County Executive Debbie Preston today announced a new construction project at the Greater Binghamton Airport.
The project will consist of replacing and expanding the airport's T-hangars which are used to house private aircraft. Demolition of the current 30-year-old structures will begin immediately to make way for the construction of two new hangers. Each hanger will accommodate approximately twenty aircraft.
The cost of the project is approximately $745,000, of which $600,000 will be covered by New York State grant money. The hanger project is running in conjunction with the North Apron Rehabilitation Project which is being funded primarily by a Federal Grant.
Construction is expected to be completed by mid-December and tenants should be in the new hangers by the end of the year.
