Multi-Alarm Fire Rips Through Endicott Apartment House

Several fire departments battled a fast-moving blaze that raced through a two-family house in Endicott. The fire in the two-story wood frame structure at 106 Fillmore Avenue was reported around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday. The first police and fire crews on the scene reported a working fire that apparently originated on the first floor of the house. The blaze quickly spread to the second floor and into the attic of the structure. A second alarm was called in about two minutes after the first units were dispatched to the fire. Endicott firefighters were assisted by crews from Endwell, Vestal and Johnson City. Two Union Volunteer Emergency Squad ambulances stood by at the scene.
Another Major House Fire in Endicott Neighborhood

For the second time in less than 24 hours, several fire departments were called out to battle a house fire in an Endicott neighborhood. The latest multi-alarm blaze was reported shortly before 6 a.m. Wednesday. The fire was in a single-family home at 5 Parsons Avenue, just south of North Street. An initial report indicated fire was coming from a downstairs room. The first Endicott police officer on the scene confirmed there was a working fire in the first floor of the house. A second alarm was issued shortly after the first firefighters were dispatched. Endicott fire chief Joseph Griswold said those who were inside the home managed to get out safely. The Union Volunteer Emergency Squad sent ambulances to stand by at the scene although there were no immediate reports of injuries.
Binghamton Residents Charged After Wild Police Pursuit

According to a release from the Broome County Sheriff's Office, after fleeing deputies, a couple of Binghamton residents are facing multiple charges after a recent pursuit. Deputies of the Broome County Sheriff's Office Road Patrol were in the area of Glenwood Avenue on Binghamton's First Ward on January 22, 2026, around 1:54 a.m., when they observed a vehicle that matched the description of a Jeep that had been involved in multiple pursuits with the Binghamton Police Department. The driver finally complied and was placed into custody along with the female passenger. The driver of the Jeep, Sean Brown from Binghamton, was found to have multiple outstanding warrants from the Pennsylvania State Police in Gibson, including one felony. The passenger was identified as Kiley Bonilla-Lattanze of Binghamton.
Delta Posts New Flight Schedule for Binghamton Airport

Delta Air Lines has posted a schedule indicating a daily flight between Binghamton and Detroit will be restored starting May 7. That means there will be no scheduled commercial air service out of the Greater Binghamton Airport for nearly three months after Delta's February 14 flight to Detroit. The new schedule shows the daily flight is to depart Binghamton at 2:20 p.m., about 15 minutes earlier than the current flight, which is to be dropped after February 14. There has been no detailed explanation as to why Delta reversed course regarding its planned curtailment of service at the Greater Binghamton Airport.
New York State Police Respond To 76 Incidents During Snowstorm

During the recent storm, New York State Troop C Officers kept busy as they responded to 76 weather-related events on January 26th and 27th, 2026. Fortunately, there were no reports of fatalities. There are three zones that NYS Troop C covers. Zone 1 counties include Chenango, Delaware, and Otsego. Zone 2 is solely Broome County, and Zone 3 consists of Cortland, Tioga, and Tompkins counties.
Johnson City Hosting New Habitat for Humanity Homes

Construction is continuing on the first two-family Habitat for Humanity project in Broome County. The duplex structure is being built on Spruce Street, just south of Harry L. Drive. Lateisha Judge-Ulrich, executive director of Broome County Habitat for Humanity, said she expects the work on the Spruce Street structure will be completed by the end of summer. One family already has been selected to live in the duplex. A second family's application is being reviewed. Construction on another Habitat for Humanity project in Johnson City was wrapped up recently. That two-story three-bedroom house was built on West Street.
What New York Families Need To Know For 2025 Tax Season

The New York State Department of Taxation notes that for the 2025 tax year, the Empire State is tripling the maximum amount of its child credit for children under age four from $330 to $1,000 per child. Get more information from the NYS Department of Taxation website. Also, New Yorkers who have children between the ages of four and sixteen can expect an increase in the maximum credit amount from $330 to $500 per child for the tax year 2026. If you are getting money back and want it as quickly as possible, e-file your 2025 income tax return. You may also be eligible for a free file in New York State.
New Vestal Parkway Pizzeria Sets Opening Date

The owner of a popular Broome County Italian restaurant has announced the target date for opening a long-planned pizzeria in Vestal. Frank LoPiccolo acquired a building at 1805 Vestal Parkway East last June for a new restaurant. The eatery, which will occupy space that previously had been occupied by a Subway sandwich shop, will be called Piccolo's Pizzeria by Franks. Remodeling for the pizza place started last summer. LoPiccolo originally had hoped for an opening by January but there have been a few delays in getting the the new restaurant ready. LoPiccolo told WNBF News special pizza ovens were recently installed and construction is moving forward. He said he now plans to open the new business on April 15.
First In Greater Binghamton: Da Vinci 5 System For Surgery

It's another first for UHS. According to an announcement, Binghamton General Hospital now has a new da Vinci 5 surgical system. This system is designed for robotic-assisted surgery, and Binghamton General is now the first hospital in the Greater Binghamton area to use this technology in a surgical procedure. The da Vinci 5 will enhance surgical precision and improve patient outcomes. With over 150 new enhancements, it will support surgeon autonomy and care‑team efficiency, including advanced 3D imaging and processing, which helps surgeons to see and feel more during procedures. In addition, the new surgeon controllers will provide smoother, more precise movements, and an optimized user interface streamlines workflow for both surgeons and staff.
What's New For Binghamton Rumble Ponies' 2026 Baseball Season?

According to the Rumble Ponies announcement today, this year, fans will be treated to 15 giveaways, 12 firework shows, 7 specialty jerseys, 3 appearances, and a newly introduced drone show, following the Friday, August 7th game, as part of a Taylor and Travis’ Honeymoon Weekend. .Some of the theme weeks and weekends will include a Prehistoric Weekend, April 24th through the 26th, America’s 250th Birthday Celebration, July 3rd through the 5th, and July 24-26: Who Done It? Mystery Weekend July 24th through the 26th, and a Football Weekend August 21st through the 23rd.
80-Unit Housing Complex Opening Near Maine-Endwell High School

The first residents of a long-planned $30 million apartment project in the town of Union are expected to move in soon. Most of the construction work on the four-story 80-unit building on Hooper Road in Endwell has been completed. The complex is located just west of Maine-Endwell Senior High School. The project is being developed by CDS Housing of Webster. The new building will be managed by The SEPP Group of Binghamton, which also oversees the neighboring Marian Apartments.
