Federal funds will be provided to a Broome County fire company to obtain equipment.

According to Congressman Richard Hanna's office, the Choconut Center Volunter Fire Company will receive about $23,000.

The money is provided under the Department of Homeland Security's Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program.

According to the Choconut Center department's website, the fire company provides fire protection and basic life support medical care in the towns of Chenango, Maine and Dickinson.

The department also responds to emergency calls at the Greater Binghamton Airport in the town of Maine.
