New York Governor Andrew Cuomo helped a man who was trapped by a seatbelt out of a delivery van following an expressway pile-up.

The crash happened early Monday afternoon on the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway.

According to the New York Post, Cuomo and his state police security detail came upon the scene shortly after the governor left an event in Manhattan.

In a tweet, NY1 reporter Zack Fink wrote that Cuomo "cut a passenger out of his seatbelt and helped pull him out of the wreck."

Fink said the video in his tweet was shot by the governor's staff.

The Post reported the governor could be seen "grabbing the man — who appeared to walk away from the vehicle unscathed — by his leg."

Rich Azzopardi, a Cuomo advisor, said the video of the governor's actions following the crash were recorded on an iPhone.
