Garnar Lifts Mask Requirement at Broome County Office Buildings
The masking rules at Broome County office buildings are being rescinded as Covid-19 cases continue to decline.
County Executive Jason Garnar said as the state lifts its mask requirement, the mask rules will be dropped at county government office facilities effective Thursday.
In a statement, Garnar thanked Broome residents and businesses for "stepping up" during the surge in coronavirus cases that occurred around the holiday season.
According to the Broome County government website, 498 new Covid-19 cases were reported over the last five days.
The county dashboard indicated there were 86 patients with the coronavirus who were hospitalized.
The website showed 486 Broome County residents have died as a result of Covid-19.
