Garnar: Avoid COVID-19 Risks During Halloween Celebrations
Broome County Executive Jason Garnar is urging residents to avoid Halloween weekend activities that could increase the spread of COVID-19 infections.
In a statement issued Friday afternoon, Garnar said local case numbers have "continued to stabilize" over the past week. He said progress is being made in battling a recent "uptick" in cases in the county.
Garnar said over the last couple of days, there has been "a much smaller number of positive cases" reported. He added "now is not the time to let our guard down."
The county executive said people should follow CDC guidelines and avoid high-risk activities like parties and social gatherings. He is encouraging residents to wear masks and follow social distancing rules to help fight COVID-19.
