City officials announced June 13 that the road had reopened, but some detours were still in place the following day and lane designations for motor vehicle and bicycle traffic were still in the works.

Traffic was moving freely in what has been the main entrance to the City from Route 17 and Interstate 81 but has been in disrepair and lacking aesthetic appeal for years.

The upgrades have been planned for about ten years with construction done in phases over the past two years.

Period street lights are still being installed along with some finishing touches but the $6 million upgrades and repairs to pavement, curbs, sidewalks and underground drainage and infrastructure are complete.
