Free Safe Rides for New Year’s Eve Are a Little Different This Year

Annual advertisements from a local lawyer’s office offering free rides to New Year’s Eve revelers who have had too much to drink are a little different to close the decade.

For over 20 years, Schimmerling Law Office has offered to foot the cab fare on New Year’s Eve to try to curb drunk driving crashes.

Thomas Schimmerling has said he wanted to offer free rides after seeing the tragedy that can result from poor choices on the holiday.

The Safe Night Program has previously advertised a phone number for people to call between midnight and 4 a.m. on January 1^st to get a cab. This year, the advertisements instruct people to use the Lyft ride service app for the Safe Night 20 program.
