Joseph Angelino has been sworn in to represent the 122nd District in the New York State Assembly.

The Republican, who served as Norwich city police chief for almost two decades, succeeds Clifford Crouch. The district includes parts of Broome, Chenango, Delaware and Otsego counties.

Angelino defeated Democratic challenger Richard Shaw in the November election. He was sworn in by state Supreme Court Justice Joseph McBride at the Chenango County Courthouse on Monday.

Angelino will serve as the ranking Republican member on the Assembly committee on oversight, analysis and investigation. He also will serve on the committees on banks, tourism, people with disabilities, and corporations and authorities.
