Former Met Heads to Japan
Former Binghamton Met Dillon Gee is headed to Japan for the upcoming baseball season. Gee has signed a one-year contract to pitch for the Chunichi Dragons in the Central League in Japan. The Associated Press and other sources report Gee has inked a deal worth $1.7 million plus the potential of an additional $300,000 in bonus money.
Gee saw action for the Binghamton Mets on two different occasions. His first Binghamton duty was in 2008 when he went 2-0 with a 1.33 ERA in 27 innings pitched. He pitched another game on a rehab assignment start in 2015. He went 6.1 innings and took the loss finishing his stint with a 2.82 ERA.
Gee has spent eight seasons in the Big Leagues and played with the New York Mets from 2010 - 15. Last year he had a 3-2 record with a 4.37 ERA in 18 games. He saw duty with both the Texas Rangers and Minnesota Twins.
