Football Powers Collide Saturday
Two standout football programs collide on Saturday in Endwell when the Maine-Endwell Spartans host the Elmira Express at 1:30 PM. It is Homecoming Weekend for the Spartans. Elmira competes in Section 4 Division I in combined AA/A schools. The Express has a 4-1 record this season with the only loss to Union-Endicott. The loss occurred in week four with the Tigers taking a 21-18 decision.
Maine-Endwell is 5-0 and is on top in Class B Division III play. The Spartans have outscored opponents by a 138 to 52 margin. Elmira has put up 207 points in five games while yielding 126 points.
The game is part of M-E's Homecoming Weekend. There will be a parade prior to kickoff. The parade begins near the O.L.Davis Volunteer Fire Department off Country Club Road and proceeds up Hooper Road and past the entrance to Maine-Endwell High School.
The United States Army will be at the game with a display and information on careers in the Army. The contest will also be broadcast on News Radio 1290 WNBF with pre-game coverage beginning at 1:20 PM.
