Authorities say the home at 122 Cass Road between Route 41 and O'Brian Road is just inside the Broome County line in the Town of Nineveh.

The initial call of a potential house fire was received by Emergency Services at 4 a.m. February 24 and assisting departments were requested to bring in equipment, including tanker trucks.

Fire crews have had to contend with temperatures hovering at or just below freezing while putting water on the structure. In addition, slippery conditions were present throughout the region as snow melt from February 23 re-froze in the overnight hours, posing a potential for black ice.

It appeared the fire was out less than a half hour later but extent of damage to the home and the cause of the fire is not known.  There was no initial word of any injuries.
