The Family Enrichment Network doesn't go on vacation for the summer.

Speaking on the weekly local public affairs program, Southern Tier Close Up May 18th, Food Service Coordinator, Angela Gates and Childcare Referral Specialist, Norma Bergmann highlighted nutrition and children's summer programs in the region.

Gates says the Family Enrichment Network on Cherry Street in Johnson City serves free, nutritious, hot lunches to anyone who wants it, including adults through the summer.  Gates says meeting nutrition needs is important in maintaining the health of children and adults and also lessening instances of health problems resulting from poor diet.

Bergmann says the Family Enrichment Network also offers exciting programs for children through the summer, which is especially helpful for working parents. A free directory listing all the programs is available from the agency.  Bergmann says one of her favorites this year is a chance for children to be junior docents at Binghamton's Ross Park Zoo.

Information about services at the Family Enrichment Network can be found at www.familyenrichment.cc. Summer program directories can be obtained by calling (607) 723-8313, extention 829 between 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. weekdays.  Residents can also go directly to the agency at 24 Cherry Street, Johnson City during those hours to pick up a copy.
